Adobe Acrobat configuration
To use the signotec Adobe Acrobat plug-in, you need to configure the following settings carefully.
The steps described in these instructions relate to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Acrobat Pro. The menu navigation may differ in older versions.
Signing method and checking
The signotec Adobe Acrobat plug-in must be configured as “standard signing method”.
To change the setting, the following steps must be carried out:
Menu → Settings… (Ctrl + K)
Category → “Signatures”
Creation and appearance → “Other…”
Standard signing method → Select signotec Acrobat plug-ins
Standard signing format → “PKCS#7 - separate file”
Click “OK” to save
Check → “More…”
Checking option → For checking → Select “Use document-specific method; if not available, use standard method”
Click “OK” to save
Restart Adobe Acrobat Reader
Protected mode
The “protected mode” of Acrobat Reader prevents the plug-in from being edited in the opened document. This mode must therefore be deactivated.
To change the setting, the following steps must be carried out:
Menu → Settings… (Ctrl + K)
Category → “Security (advanced)”
Sandbox protection → Deactivate “Activate protected mode on start-up”
Click “OK” to save
Restart Adobe Acrobat Reader
In rare cases, it may also be necessary to deactivate the option “Activate advanced security”.
Certified add-on modules
Loading exclusively certified add-on modules makes it impossible to select and use the signotec Adobe Acrobat plug-in, so this setting must be deactivated.
To change the setting, the following steps must be carried out:
Menu → Settings… (Ctrl + K)
Category → “General”
Program start → Deactivate “Only use certified plug-ins”
Click “OK” to save
Restart Adobe Acrobat Reader
