Updates

signotec Adobe Acrobat plug-in

In order to install a new version of the signotec Adobe Acrobat plug-in, simply perform a new setup. Older existing installations will be automatically uninstalled before an update. Existing configurations are applied.

Configuration

In version 8.1.14 and later, the setup only overwrites the configuration (stsignpdf.ini) during installation if a configuration file is explicitly provided during the installation process. Standard installations without a configuration file therefore no longer overwrite any settings.

As a backup, the file with the current standard values is always installed in the installation directory (standard: %PROGRAMFILES%\signotec\Adobe PlugIn\Documentation).

Adobe Acrobat Reader / Acrobat Pro

This paragraph refers to major version updates (e.g. From version 11 to DC). Experience has shown that updates within a major version do not pose any problems.

If an update of Adobe Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro (e.g. From version 11 to DC) is to be performed, the signotec Adobe Acrobat plug-in should initially be uninstalled as it cannot be transferred to newer versions. The plug-in can then be reinstalled.

If an update of Adobe Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro has already been performed and you would prefer not to reinstall the plug-in, the corresponding files can also be moved manually. To do this, move the files “STSignPDF.api” and “STPadLib.dll” from the “plug_ins” directory of the old Adobe Acrobat Reader (e.g. “%PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\Adobe\Acrobat Reader XI\Reader\plug_ins”) to the directory of the new Adobe Acrobat Reader (e.g. %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\plug_ins or %PROGRAMFILES%\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\plug_ins).

If the plug-in subsequently no longer works, reinstallation of the plug-in is recommended.
