System requirements

Operating systems

The following operating systems are supported by signoSign/2:

  • Windows 10

  • Windows 11

  • Windows Server 2019

  • Windows Server 2022

  • Windows Server 2025

The application is provided for 64-bit (x64).

System performance

The following system specifications are provided as a guide to the required system performance.

Minimum requirements

  • Dual-core processor

  • 4 GB of RAM

  • 500 MB of hard drive space

  • Screen resolution: at least 1,280 × 720 px

  • Quad-core processor (or better)

  • 8 GB of RAM (or more)

  • 1 GB of hard drive space (or more)

  • Screen resolution: 1,920 x 1,080 px (or higher)

The actual CPU performance required and the amount of RAM needed depend heavily on usage patterns. For example, opening many complex PDF files at the same time or configuring numerous document types requires more memory space. Performance may also be affected by other programs or operating system background services.

The following signotec signature pads are supported by signoSign/2:

Pen dDisplays

Starting with version 12.0

The following signotec Pen Displays are natively supported by signoSign/2:

  • signotec Delta (Touch) Pen Display

  • signotec Kronos (Touch) Pen Display

  • signotec Epsilon Touch Pen Display

The following signotec Pen Displays are supported in tablet PC mode:

  • signotec Ares Pen Display

Windows tablet PC

All common Windows tablet PCs (2-in-1, convertibles or detachables), such as the Microsoft Surface or devices from the Lenovo Yoga series, are supported.

Supported file formats

The following file formats are supported:

  • PDF files (*.pdf, *.sig)

  • Document Stack (*.sml)

  • XML Forms Data Format (*.xfdf)

  • Compressed archives (*.zip, *.szp)

In addition, the following Office file formats are automatically converted to PDF when opened:

  • Word documents (*.docx, *.doc, *.txt, *.rtf, *.odt)

  • Word templates (*.dotx, *.dot)

  • Excel files (*.xlsx, *.xls, *.csv, *.ods)

  • PowerPoint presentations (*.pptx, *.ppt, *.ppsx, *.pps, *.odp)

By default, only the first worksheet is used when Excel files are opened. If you want to use other worksheets or specific ranges, you must start the printing process in signotec PDF Creator directly from Excel.

To use Office file formats, you must have signotec PDF Creator and a compatible application for the respective file format (e.g., Microsoft Word) installed.

PDF formats

signoSign/2 supports PDF documents from PDF version 1.3 as well as the common conformities PDF/A-1b, PDF/A-2b and PDF/A-3.

The attachments contained in PDF/A-3 compliant documents are ignored. These attachments cannot be processed with signoSign/2, but remain contained in the document.

Microsoft Outlook

If Outlook integration is to be used, the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office 2016 or later is required.

Support for 32-bit or older versions of Outlook is possible via the compatibility mode in the email settings. Only limited technical support is available for compatibility mode.

The “New Outlook” (also known as “One Outlook” in the Microsoft Store) is not supported. Only the “Classic Outlook” can be used as a desktop application.

Communication with web applications

If signoSign/2 is to communicate with a web application such as signoSign/Universal or with the upload archiver, at least the TLS 1.2 encryption protocol is required.
